Box Hill coach appointed
The Hawks are pleased to announce the appointment of Damian Carroll as Box Hill Senior Coach.
Hawthorn Football Club, in conjunction with Box Hill Hawks Football Club, is pleased to announce the appointment of Damian Carroll as Box Hill Senior Coach/Hawthorn Development Coach for the 2011 season.
Carroll, a former Physical Education Teacher and Director of Sport at Mazenod College, comes to Box Hill Hawks after two years as Head Coach and Football Development Manager at Gippsland Power, who played off in the TAC Cup Under 18 grand final this year against Calder Cannons.
Carroll draws significant experience and football knowledge from a highly decorated playing career with VFA/VFL club Casey (Springvale) Scorpions, where he played 233 games, won three premierships and was awarded the club’s best and fairest in 2002. He is also a life member of the club.
Hawthorn General Manager Football Operations Mark Evans is confident Carroll has all the credentials to be an excellent VFL coach.
“We believe Damian’s experience as Senior Coach for Gippsland Power, along with his previous coaching and leadership roles, will be extremely helpful at Box Hill and we’re certain he possesses the teaching and communication capabilities to effectively develop the young players on Hawthorn’s list.”
Carroll replaces Brendon Bolton, who has been promoted to an assistant coaching role with Hawthorn after two successful seasons at the helm of Box Hill.
