HAWTHORN recruit Jed Anderson will make his debut for Hawthorn in Monday’s blockbuster against Geelong.
Originally from the Northern Territory, Anderson was pre-listed by Greater Western Sydney and on-traded to Hawthorn in a deal that saw 2008 premiership player Stephen Gilham depart the Club.
Since arriving at the Ricoh Centre, Anderson has impressed with his work ethic and attitude towards his training, preparation and commitment to forging a career in the AFL.
He played in all four of Hawthorn’s practice matches during the NAB series and impressed with his attack on the footy, pace and foot skills, all of which are hallmarks of his game.
Monday will also see recruit Brian Lake pull on the brown and gold guernsey for the first time in a match for premiership points.
Lake has overcome a calf injury sustained in week one of the NAB Cup and has subsequently been named at full back for his new side.
Cyril Rioli will also take his place in the team after too, overcoming injury in the NAB Cup.
Both Rioli and Lake have trained strongly in the weeks leading up to Round 1.
Jonathan Simpkin, Max Bailey and Kyle Cheney have been cut from the squad of 25 named on Thursday and will be the emergencies for the Easter Monday blockbuster.
