HAWTHORN star Jarryd Roughead has won his first ever Coleman Medal as the leading goal kicker in the AFL for season 2013.

Roughead has had an outstanding season for the minor premiers, finishing with 68 goals for the season.

His four goal haul against the Swans on Friday night sealed the award, to be presented at the AFLPA MVP awards night in two weeks.

He becomes the second current Hawthorn player to win the medal, with fellow star forward Lance Franklin having won two of his own.

The Coleman Medal is a just reward for the former number 2 draft pick, who, just three seasons ago ruptured his Achilles and had many doubting his ability to play again at a high level.

He finished as the AFL's leading goal kicker for 2013 ahead of Collingwood's Travis Cloke on 66 goals and young Greater Western Sydney star Jeremy Cameron on 64.
