Hawks upgrade Ross to primary list
Hawthorn has upgraded rookie-listed midfielder Ben Ross to the primary list in place of injured youngster Jed Anderson.
Picked up in last year's rookie draft, Ross joined the Hawks after two impressive seasons with Werribee in the VFL, where he won the J.J Liston Trophy as they league's best player in 2011.
The midfielder has been a consistent performer for Hawthorn's VFL affiliate Box Hill this year and was among the best in last week's loss to North Ballarat, where he won 15 disposals and generated run off half-back.
He has been named in Box Hill's best in four of his eight games this year.
His run off half-back and through the middle has been one of his strengths, and included 13 and 10 handball receives against Coburg and Geelong.
Ross, 25, played 14 games for North Melbourne between 2008-2011 after being drafted by the Roos in the 2007 pre-season draft. He was delisted at the end of 2011, where he immediately joined Werribee in the hope of a second chance at the AFL.
Anderson was placed on the long-term injury list at the end of April following a shoulder injury sustained in Box Hill's Round 1 game against Williamstown in April.
No replacement for Anderson had been named until now.
Anderson will miss the remainder of the 2014 season, after it was confirmed on Tuesday this week that he has undergone season-ending shoulder surgery,
