ANDREW Newbold will be re-elected as President of Hawthorn Football at December’s Annual General Meeting.
Newbold, who assumed the presidency in 2012, will serve another three-year term after being re-elected unopposed. This will be his final term with the Club taking his presidency through until the end of 2017.
The Hawks President has led the Club through three consecutive Grand Finals during his first term, including two premierships.
The December meeting will also see Peter Nankivell officially join the Board, where his legal background will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in that area.
Currently, Nankivell is a Consultant at Thomson Geer Lawyers and was previously the Chairman of Partners at Herbert Geer Lawyers where he was for 19 years.
President Newbold said Nankivell’s addition to the Board will be a great asset in what is already a strong leadership group.
“In addition to being a life-long supporter, Peter has been professionally involved with the Hawthorn Football Club as the Clubs legal adviser since 2012 and an independent member of the Finance and Risk Management Committee where he reviewed the Club’s Constitution and governance structures,” he said.
“Peter has a passion for football, at a junior and senior level, and he and his family are committed Hawthorn Football Club members with his wife’s late father also heavily involved with the Club for many years.
“With his extensive legal background, knowledge of governance protocols and our clubs culture, Peter is the perfect addition to our board and team at Hawthorn.
“I look forward to officially welcoming him to the Board in December.”
Current Board members Linda Kristjanson and Andrew Gowers will also be re-elected at the meeting.
The 112th AGM of the Hawthorn Football Club Limited will be held at the Hawthorn Art Centre on 11 December. Full details are available here.
