HAWTHORN captain Luke Hodge will be sidelined for the next month after having surgery on his right forearm today.

Scans after the Hawks’ season opener against Geelong confirmed Hodge had sustained a broken ulna during the match.

The injury will see him out of action for the next four to six weeks.

However, Liam Shiels could be a chance to return from a wrist injury in Round 2 against West Coast Eagles.
