BOX HILL Hawks have suffered their third defeat for 2016, going down to Northern Blues by 36 points at Box Hill City Oval on Saturday.
The Hawks led by 12 points at quarter time, but the Blues won the following three quarters.
After leading by four points at the major break, the Blues kicked 11 goals to five to run out 15.13 (103) to 10.7 (67) winners.
Hawthorn-listed duo Kurt Heatherley and Jonathan O'Rourke were Box Hill's leading ball-winners.
Key defender Heatherley finished with 22 disposals, five inside 50s and four rebound 50s, while O'Rourke - in his third match back from injury - collected 22 disposals, plus five inside 50s and six rebound 50s.
Kieran Lovell (21 disposals) and Dallas Willsmore (21 disposals) also found plenty of the ball.
Willsmore was one of three multiple goal-kickers for the Hawks, slotting three. Teia Miles and Zac Webster chipped in with two goals each.
The result leaves the Hawks with a 5-3 record after Round 10.
They travel to Geelong next week to face the Cats at Simonds Stadium.
