Having moved across from Adelaide after 90 games with the Crows, Henderson was recruited to the Hawks for his ability to play in any position on the ground.

The 28-year old found himself in a range of positions this year for the brown and gold.

Yet the utility remained consistent with his output this season, averaging 21.6 disposals a game to rank sixth highest at the Hawks.

In fact, Henderson gathered more disposals in 2017 than he did in any of his seven seasons at Crows, while also equalling his career-best season tally for goals kicked with 13.

His new teammates also recognised his ability to use the ball on the outside of the contest, with his 17.4 uncontested possession average rating third best at the club.

A word from: Brett Ratten

“He’s come across from Adelaide and played 18 games.

“Towards the latter part of the year, he started to hit the scoreboard moving through the wing and even half-forward at times, which has been a real bonus for us. He has a beautiful, long kick too.

“He gives us great versatility in the team, he can play at half-back, he can play as a wingman and, at times, play as that half-forward.

“With his experience, he is someone that the young players lean on in regard to his knowledge and his support. He has been a good addition to the club and when he is kicking the ball long and hitting the scoreboard, he is a very penetrating player.”
