Review
Despite not featuring at AFL level this season after playing three games in 2016, Marc Pittonet has taken a step forward this season.
The 21-year old played 16 games for Box Hill this year and was one of the most consistent performers for the Hawthorn affiliate throughout the season.
The 202cm ruckman averaged 37 hit-outs this season, after averaging 24 and 19 in the previous two campaigns.
Another talking point of Pittonet’s year was his ability to follow-up after the ruck contest with either a crunching tackle, of which he averaged five a game, or getting the clearance for himself.
A word from: Brett Ratten
“He has developed really nicely at VFL level this year. He has played some terrific footy in the back half of the year especially.
“He’s played on some strong players at VFL level, including North Melbourne’s Todd Goldstein, who he has beaten in ruck contests and then around the ground as well.
“He’s really improved his marking this year and he is continuing to work on his follow-up work.
“But some of his ruck work generally in the second half of the year has made him very close to senior selection.”
