James Frawley was putting together some strong form throughout the first two months of the season before getting injured in Round 8 against the Brisbane Lions.
Frawley suffered “turf toe”, which halted his chances of playing any further part in 2017.
The strong-bodied defender registered a career-high in one-percenters this year, averaging 7.9 a game.
Frawley’s absence from the senior side catered for the accelerated development of the likes of Kaiden Brand and Kurt Heatherley.
With Frawley set to be ready to go in 2018, he will now have an up-and-coming key defensive nucleus to help him out into the future.
A word from: Adem Yze
“It was really disappointing that ‘Chip’ hurt himself down in Tassie as his form was pretty solid up until then. To then lose him for the rest of the year was a massive loss for our footy club.
“But while he was injured he kept training and really helping a lot of the younger boys develop. He spent some time especially with a lot of younger defenders, which is a good leadership development for him as well.
“He doesn’t like missing games so I know he’ll be chomping at the bit for the preseason to start.”
