Review

Ben Stratton played the opening two months of the season before succumbing to injury in Round 8 against the Brisbane Lions.

Stratton injured his posterior cruciate ligament in the game, which stopped him from making another appearance in 2017.

The 28-year old was named to return from the injury in the Round 15 clash with Collingwood, but failed to recover in time for the match after the side’s final training session.

Swelling to his knee joint meant Stratton was a late withdrawal from the game and would play no further part in the season after that.

Stratton’s ability to stop some of the opposition’s most dangerous forwards was sorely missed this year.

In his fourth appearance of 2018, Stratton will reach his 150th career game.

A word from: Adem Yze

“He only played a handful of games this year. He was another massive loss.

“He’ll be one that, when he comes back next year, his leadership will be important with the void Hodgey is leaving, so ‘Stratts’ will take on that responsibility.

“We’re looking forward to him getting back from his injury and then training hard because he is one of the hardest trainers we’ve got. We can’t wait for him to get back out there again next year.”
