Several newcomers and returning stars have been named in Hawthorn's first squad for 2022.

The Hawks will take on Collingwood in their first pre-season practice match for the year at Morwell Recreation Reserve on Friday.

Josh Ward, last year’s Pick 7 in the AFL Draft, alongside fellow draftees Connor Macdonald, Jai Serong, Sam Butler and Ned Long are among those named in the 45-man squad.

Recruit Max Lynch is also set to also pull on the brown and gold for the first time.

Key defender James Sicily will return for his first game since suffering an ACL injury in 2020, while forward Jack Gunston will also get his first taste of game play again since a back injury limited him to just one match last year.

The practice game begins at 4pm and will be live streamed on Kayo.
