Hawthorn will finally get the chance to play its first ever home and away game in Darwin this year with the AFL confirming the Hawks will take on the Gold Coast Suns at TIO Stadium in Round 11.
The Hawks will host Brisbane at UTAS Stadium in Launceston on the Sunday afternoon in Round 10 before heading to Darwin the following week for a Saturday night primetime clash.
The two games are set to represent significant fixtures in the Sir Doug Nicholls Round celebrations which will sit across two weeks.
Hawthorn Chief Commercial Officer Ash Klein said the club was delighted to play an important role in the round's celebrations.
"We're privileged to be able to play our role in showcasing the game in the Northern Territory as part of Sir Doug Nicholls Round," Klein said.
“To be playing in Darwin for premiership points for the first time in the club's history is also a really exciting moment for the club.
"The opportunity to honour Sir Doug Nicholls Round with a home game at our second home in Launceston is also an exceptional result for the club."
Hawthorn will be launching the club's new Indigenous guernsey in the coming weeks, with these games to provide a fitting platform for members and fans to enjoy the new design.
Both games will be broadcast live on Channel 7 free-to-air.
