Hawthorn VFLW continued its winning ways on Saturday, taking down the Southern Saints in a 21-point victory at Box Hill City Oval.
With both teams sitting inside the top six, the Round 8 clash marked one of the Hawks' closest contests yet.
But it was Hawthorn who reigned superior, taking its winning streak to six in a row ahead of the bye.
Here’s Coach Cherie O’Neill’s best picks from the victory.
Dom Carbone
“Dom’s been playing amazing off that half-forward flank, and playing a bit of a stalker role out the back of packs which is really great. She’s been opening the games up for us and has great run. She’s very passionate about her footy which is just fantastic. I just love watching these girls play with passion and that’s what she brings to our team.”
Jenna Richardson
“She’s a good intercept across the backline, very solid all the time. Again, that gives us that rebound run off that back flank. There’s probably a few of them that play that role, but Jenna was particularly solid.”
Nicole Garner
“She’s very strong, very athletic and holds that outside shape, creates run off our wings. She showed some great leadership as well.”
Jordan Mifsud
“Jordy is a quiet one, she just quietly goes about her business and chips away. She’s always at the top of the stats, week in, week out. She’s a real workhorse for us through the middle. She’s been a very good addition for us.”
Eliza Shannon
“Eliza was unwell a few weeks ago, she probably struggled a little bit more than she normally does. But she’s a player that we can have playing off the half-back flank or down forward. She gives us that movement and lead, she’s very aggressive towards the football. Whatever you ask of her, she just does it.”
Kristen Hay
"She's similar to Richo - she also is great running off that half back flank. She's got a really good footy knowledge and is just really solid around the back and creates some stability for us."
