Hawthorn Coach Sam Mitchell says his side lacked consistency in its 41-point loss to Sydney at University of Tasmania Stadium on Monday.
The Hawks began the game strongly before taking a 15-point lead into the main break, but were run over by the Swans in the final quarter of the ANZAC Day clash.
“We started the game in a strong manner and were able to get a little bit of scoreboard ascendency, but to be honest we couldn’t find a way to withstand them throughout the rest of the day,” Mitchell said.
“They really controlled most of the game after that, (but) we were able to hold them off for a long time.
“They're a really quality, high-performing side, and we knew that it was going to be a game of consistency and they were able to last that a little bit longer than us.”
