Hawthorn will be aiming to snap its five-match losing streak when it hosts Adelaide at Marvel Stadium on Sunday.

The Hawks will be bolstered by the return of Captain Ben McEvoy for the match after recovering from a neck injury.

McEvoy has spent the last 14 weeks on the sidelines after sustaining a small fracture in his neck during a contest at training in March.

Both sides currently sit next to each other on the ladder, with the the Crows on five wins for the season so far, while the Hawks have four.

Hawthorn has won 11 of its last 14 games against Adelaide, the only blemishes being at the MCG (2017), Adelaide Oval (2020) and at Docklands last season.

The match-up will also see Tom Mitchell play his 100th game in the brown and gold.

The Hawks again will wear their Indigenous guernsey in celebration of NAIDOC Week.

Last time we met

Adelaide Crows (102) defeated Hawthorn (83) - Round 19, 2021

The first quarter did not start well for the Hawks, with the Crows scoring the opening three goals. It developed into a tight tussle with a fast pace goal frenzy.

Adelaide lead by 12 points at the third quarter break and a late three goals of the match sealed the win for the Crows in a win away from home.

Tom Mitchell was crucial recording 28 disposals and a goal, while star forward Mitch Lewis kicked three majors.

Jaeger O’Meara, James Worpel, Dylan Moore and Daniel Howe were also strong on the day.

Our last game

GWS Giants (72) defeated Hawthorn (50)

Hawthorn and GWS squared up in a rain-soaked Giants Stadium on Sunday.

The Giants were first to adapt to the conditions and had two goals on the board after eight minutes.

It took close to 10 minutes for the Hawks to go inside their 50-metre arc, and when they did, they took full toll, with Connor MacDonald registering their first goal of the afternoon.

That proved the spark Hawthorn needed, as it went on to kick three of the next four goals to take a six-point lead into quarter-time.

But after a seven-goal first quarter, scoring dried up in the second, with just three majors added, all to the Giants.

Dylan Moore's goal on the stroke of three-quarter time kept Hawthorn in touch, but the Crows withheld in the final quarter to take home the 22-point victory.

Tom Mitchell was everywhere on the day finishing with 35 disposals, while Jaeger O'Meara (26 touches) and Harry Morrison (25 touches) were also standouts.
