Hawthorn Captain Tilly Lucas-Rodd has created history once again at the AFLW’s night of nights, the W Awards.
The star midfielder became the first Hawthorn AFLW player to receive votes at the AFLW best and fairest awards, tallying two votes in Round 1 for her 17 disposals and eight tackles against Essendon.
She went on to poll on two more occasions, including a perfect three votes in Round 7 for her 50th AFLW game.
Lucas-Rodd was joined in the votes by Lucy Wales, Akec Makur Chuot, Jess Duffin and Kaitlyn Ashmore.
Wales and Makur Chuot polled one and two votes, respectively, for their performances in Hawthorn’s inaugural AFLW win in Round 5 while Duffin received two votes the following round for her match-winning three-goal performance against West Coast.
Ashmore joined the Hawthorn tally in Round 7, receiving two votes for her 16 disposals and six tackles against Port Adelaide.
In other awards, Makur Chuot was nominated for the AFLW Goal of the Year while young gun Jasmine Fleming finished third in the NAB AFLW Rising Star votes. Wales was also nominated throughout the season.
Fleming received 17 votes for her stellar debut AFLW season where she averaged 14.4 disposals, 4.3 tackles and 3.2 clearances. She also accumulated the fifth-most deposals of any first-season player with 130, despite featuring in fewer games than the four players ahead of her. This trend also reflected in the Rising Star votes, finishing on the podium even though she played nine games while the two players ahead of her made 10 appearances in Season 7.
