With the new year finally upon us, there is plenty to be excited about for Hawks fans in 2023.
The season ahead promises to be memorable for many reasons, including another set of special milestones to look forward to.
Let’s break down who’s in line for a big career day in the brown and gold.
SAM FROST - 150 GAMES
(CURRENTLY ON 141 GAMES)
Suddenly among Hawthorn’s most experienced players on the list, Frost could be on the cusp of chalking up 150 career games this season.
Fresh from signing a two-year contract extension in 2022, Frost has made the brown and gold his home, after beginning his career at GWS, before playing for Melbourne.
In a freaky coincidence, the 29-year-old’s 150-game milestone could come against the Demons in Round 9 at the MCG.
JAMES WORPEL - 100 GAMES
(CURRENTLY ON 79 GAMES)
Season 2023 shapes as an exciting one for Worpel.
After a strong pre-season following shoulder surgery last year, the 2019 Peter Crimmins Medallist is primmed to return to his very best in a developing Hawthorn midfield.
If the 23-year-old can piece together a consistent run of games, he’s in line to play his 100th game in Launceston against the Western Bulldogs in Round 22.
HARRY MORRISON - 100 GAMES
(CURRENTLY ON 78 GAMES)
One of Hawthorn’s biggest improvers last season, Morrison is now on the verge of mark his 100-game milestone.
Earning more minutes in the midfield, Morrison made a name for himself as among the most consistent performers in the brown and gold, flashing across the wing.
Should all things fall into place, Morrison would mark his century of games in Hawthorn’s Round 23 clash against Melbourne at the MCG.
CHANGKUOTH JIATH - 50 GAMES
(CURRENTLY ON 37 GAMES)
One of Hawthorn’s fan favourites could be celebrating the first of many milestones in 2023, with Jiath eyeing off 50 games.
The 23-year-old has become somewhat of a barometer for the Hawks, with his spark and explosive pace out of defence often crucial to his side’s success.
Jiath’s 50th game would be one to circle in the diary for die-hard brown and gold fans, with his milestone looming large in the Round 13 match against Brisbane at the MCG.
JACOB KOSCHITZKE - 50 GAMES
(CURRENTLY ON 36 GAMES)
Koschitzke could keep the 50-game milestones rolling when the Hawks take Gold Coast in Round 15 following the bye.
The developing forward continues to show strong signs for the future as he embarks upon his fifth season at the top level.
The 22-year-old has averaged better than a goal-per-game in his short career so far.
JAI NEWCOMBE - 50 GAMES
(CURRENTLY ON 29 GAMES)
Newcombe’s rise to prominence among the most exciting young midfielders in the competition could be further stamped with his 50th game in 2023.
Having only just finished his first full season, Newcombe hasn’t missed a game since his debut after being a mid-season draftee in 2021.
Hawks fans will be made to wait for Newcombe’s potential milestone, with his half century not expected until Round 22 in Launceston, when the brown and gold host the Western Bulldogs.
