Another pre-season camp done and dusted.

This year's trip saw the boys make the trek out to Gippsland where they spent the last four days in Churchill to partake in a mix of training and activities.

After arriving at Federation University late on Tuesday afternoon, the group started their first full day on Wednesday which included a series of rotations.

Even on pre-season camp, a weights session was on the cards, as was some mindfulness activities followed by a dip in the pool.

Later that afternoon saw some of the boys give wheelchair football a crack, while others spent the rest of the day at a kids football clinic in Morwell on Wednesday night.

Despite the rain pressing and a cool change, more than 120 kids (and their dedicated parents!) turned up for the afternoon.

Local boys Jai Newcombe and Changkuoth Jiath were the kings of the kids as plenty of smiles filled the ground of Ronald Reserve.

Thursday saw an early start, with a team meeting kicking off the morning before a short car ride back to Morwell for the main training session.

The boys put in a solid session at Morwell East Football Club, which saw youngster Josh Ward transition back into full training after facing a groin and hip issue across the last two months.

And the 19-year-old picked right back up where he left off, showing no signs the interrupted block would hurt his 2023 campaign.

Irishman Conor Nash, who was restricted by a back injury last month, also returned to full fitness.

The three-hour session at Morwell consisted of a series of drills - followed by some match simulation - before the boys were informed at the end of training by High Performance Manager Peter Burge that there was one last challenge to come.

The boys completed a gruelling running set after training, returning to Federation University for hill sprints next to the cabins they were sleeping in.

Endurance machine Jiath led the charge alongside Maginness, with Ned Long and Josh Weddle not far behind, ahead of Moore and ruck duo Max Lynch and Max Ramsden

Following the hill sprints the boys opted for another pool recovery session, while Newcombe and Jiath took some time aside to chat to the media.

From leadership aspirations to training intensity, the boys spoke candidly on their plans and goals for 2023.

Some more rotations followed later that day before some well-deserved free time and a group dinner finished off the day.

Parts of the four-day camp was also focussed on leadership, with the club now getting close to appointing Ben McEvoy's successor as captain.

There won't be a formal voting system, rather a series of meetings to identify who is the best fit for the group with a decision to made in the coming weeks.
