Hawthorn Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Luke McCabe as Football Director on the club’s Board.
McCabe, who played 138 games across a decade-long career for the Hawks, was awarded the role following a rigorous selection process.
Post football, McCabe has gone on to run a successful South Australian agriculture business and is currently serving on the South Australian Football Commission.
Along with a strong entrepreneurial background, McCabe possesses a well-rounded perspective and deep understanding of football administration and the growth and development of women’s football.
Hawthorn President Andy Gowers was thrilled to welcome McCabe to the club’s Board of Directors.
“Luke has long been a proud member of the brown and gold family, and we are delighted to be adding a person of his calibre to our Board,” Gowers said.
“Luke’s experience speaks for itself – his knowledge in both a football and business sense will be a valuable addition.
“He has a clear vision on what is required to continue to build our winning culture and will be working closely with our football department, led by Rob McCartney.”
McCabe, who will join the Board immediately, was proud to be taking on such a critical role for Hawthorn Football Club.
“This is an important time for our football club as we lay the foundations for our next premiership sides,” McCabe said.
“I understand the journey our men’s and women’s programs are currently on and I am committed to helping Bec and Sam create an elite environment which best positions them to succeed.”
