In exciting news for the club, Hawthorn has re-signed 25 AFLW players ahead of the 2023 season.

Tegan Cunningham
Tegan Cunningham has recommitted to the Hawks until the end of the 2023 season.
Cunningham arrived at Hawthorn as a forward but turned heads when she suited up in defence in Round 1.
The 35-year-old also spent time in the ruck, highlighting her reliability all over the ground.
Janet Baird
Janet Baird will be at the Hawks until the end of the 2023 season after initially signing a two-year deal prior to Hawthorn's inaugural season.
Baird suited up on one occasion for the Hawks during Season 7, playing against Brisbane in Round 9.
The 23-year-old has completed some training sessions with Box Hill’s VFLW side in the off-season, continuing to develop her game.
Jasmine Fleming
Jasmine Fleming has re-signed with the club until the end of the 2024 season.
She made an instant impact in her debut season, averaging 14.4 disposals, 4.3 tackles and 3.2 clearances from her nine appearances in the brown and gold.
The 18-year-old came third in the AFLW Rising Star and Hawthorn’s AFLW best and fairest counts, as well as being selected in the AFL Players’ Association AFLW 22under22 side and named the Hawks Rising Star.
Zoe Barbakos
Zoe Barbakos has recommitted to the Hawks until the end of the 2023 season.
Barbakos burst onto the scene in Round 1 when she dazzled with two goals from her six disposals.
The 19-year-old went on to play seven matches for the season with an average of four disposals per game.
Aileen Gilroy
Aileen Gilroy has re-signed with the club until the end of the 2023 season.
Gilroy starred in a number of roles for the Hawks in Season 7, finishing her campaign with impressive averages of 12.3 disposals and 5.3 tackles.
The 30-year-old capped off a stunning debut season in the brown and gold by finishing second in Hawthorn’s best and fairest count and claiming the coveted Gold Standards Award.
Tahlia Fellows
Tahlia Fellows has re-signed with Hawthorn until the end of the 2024 season.
Fellows’ breakout game came in Hawthorn’s first victory, as she booted through three match-winning goals at Punt Road Oval.
The 23-year-old continued to grow from there, kicking a further three majors for the season and averaging 5.8 disposals as well as 2.8 tackles.
Kaitlyn Ashmore
Kaitlyn Ashmore has re-signed with the Hawks until the end of the 2023 season.
Ashmore excelled in her first season in the brown and gold on the wing, averaging 12.2 disposals and 2.8 marks.
The 31-year-old also notched up her 50th game before going on to place fourth in Hawthorn’s best and fairest count.
Jenna Richardson
Jenna Richardson has recommitted to the club until the end of the 2024 season.
After battling injury for the first half of the season, the defender made her debut in Hawthorn’s Round 6 win against West Coast and played a starring role.
She then made the AFLW Team of the Week in just her second game, recording 12 disposals and 10 intercept possessions playing against Port Adelaide’s Erin Phillips, before shutting down GWS’ Cora Staunton a week later.

Louise Stephenson
Louise Stephenson will be at the club until the end of the 2023 season after initially signing a two-year deal prior to Hawthorn's inaugural season.
Although she only suited up for three games due to injury in Season 7, the defender still showed why she was selected in the club’s inaugural AFLW leadership group.
The 27-year-old was diligent in her rehab and often featured in the coaches’ box while on the sidelines.
When on the field, Stephenson demonstrated her versatility, as the traditional defender often ran through the midfield to aid Hawthorn’s young on-ball brigade.
Aine McDonagh
Aine McDonagh has recommitted to the club until the end of the 2023 season.
After being sidelined by injury during Hawthorn’s pre-season, McDonagh made her brown and gold debut in Round 4 and immediately showed glimpses of the player she could be inside 50.
The 24-year-old’s breakout game came against Port Adelaide in Round 7 when she took five marks, gathered seven possessions and kicked an important goal.
Charlotte Baskaran
Charlotte Baskaran has re-signed with the Hawks until the end of the 2023 season.
She had a successful year in the midfield, playing all 10 games in Season 7 and averaging 10.5 disposals and 5.1 tackles, all while completing Year 12 studies.
The 18-year-old’s best performance came in Round 10 against Fremantle where she gathered 14 possessions and laid eight tackles.
Bridget Deed
Bridget Deed has recommitted to the Hawks until the end of the 2024 season.
Hawthorn’s first-ever AFLW-listed player played five games for the Hawks in Season 7, averaging 7.2 disposals.
The 20-year-old improved with each game she played and ended her debut season with a career-high 10 disposals against Fremantle in Round 10.
Ainslie Kemp
Ainslie Kemp has re-signed with Hawthorn until the end of the 2023 season.
Kemp made her Hawthorn debut in Round 3 after recovering from three ACL injuries while previously playing for Melbourne’s AFLW side.
She averaged 8.1 disposals and won Hawthorn’s AFLW Mark of the Year, often shutting down key opponents along the way.
Mackenzie Eardley
Mackenzie Eardley has re-signed with the club until the end of the 2024 season.
She showed promising signs as a defender in Season 7, with averages of 7.1 disposals and 215.4 metres gained thanks to her long, powerful kicks out of defensive 50.
Tilly Lucas-Rodd
Tilly Lucas-Rodd has recommitted to the Hawks until the end of the 2023 season.
Lucas-Rodd led the side brilliantly as captain in the club’s inaugural season, all while taking their new game to new heights.
The 26-year-old averaged 17.6 disposals, 4.2 clearances and 8.4 tackles, ranking fourth in the league in that department, before going on to win Hawthorn’s inaugural best and fairest award.

Bridie Hipwell
Bridie Hipwell has re-signed with Hawthorn until the end of the 2023 season.
She improved with each game she played inside 50, kicking two important goals in Rounds 7 and 8 to go with an average of 4.7 disposals from her six games.
Laura Elliott
Laura Elliott has re-signed with the Hawks until the end of the 2024 season.
She successfully slotted into Hawthorn’s backline, making six appearances for the season and averaging 5.7 disposals.
Sophie Locke
Sophie Locke has recommitted to Hawthorn until the end of the 2023 season.
After losing her Mum to cancer before the season had even started, the 21-year-old bravely stepped out onto Marvel Stadium in Round 1 and booted Hawthorn’s first-ever AFLW goal before going on to average 7.1 disposals and 3.4 tackles from her nine appearances.
Tamara Luke
Tamara Luke has re-signed with the club until the end of the 2023 season.
An inaugural leadership group member, Luke’s first season in the brown and gold was unfortunately cut short by an ACL injury sustained in Round 2 against her former club, St Kilda.
Despite that, the 35-year-old took home the Club Person of the Year award at Hawthorn’s best and fairest night, highlighting her commitment to the Hawks program and its progress.
Sarah Perkins
Sarah Perkins will be at the Hawks until the end of the 2023 season after initially signing a two-year deal prior to Hawthorn's inaugural season.
Perkins slotted through an important goal for her childhood club in Round 1 before going on to play four games for the season.
Tamara Smith
Tamara Smith has recommitted to the club until the end of the 2024 season.
Smith lived up to her tag as the tackling machine in Hawthorn’s inaugural season, ranking fifth in the competition for her 83 tackles.
Featuring in all 10 games, the 22-year-old averaged 10.3 disposals and 8.3 tackles before being named Hawthorn’s Most Courageous Player at the club’s best and fairest night.
Emily Everist
Emily Everist has re-signed with the Hawks until the end of the 2024 season.
Everist showed signs of the player she could be in the backline, making her debut in Round 5 and playing her best game in Round 8, finishing with five disposals and five tackles against GWS.
Lucy Wales
Lucy Wales has re-signed with Hawthorn until the end of the 2024 season.
She burst onto the scene in the ruck, averaging 16.8 hit-outs to rank 12th in the competition.
Playing in all 10 games last season, the 19-year-old received an AFLW Rising Star nomination for her 17 hit-outs, 10 disposals and five tackles against Port Adelaide in Round 7.

Akec Makur Chuot
Akec Makur Chuot has re-signed with the Hawks until the end of the 2023 season.
Makur Chuot found a new home on the wing, impressing with her athleticism, strong hands and ball movement.
She ended the season playing all 10 games and averaging 9.5 disposals, with a highlight of her season undoubtedly being her Goal of the Year contender against GWS in Round 8.
Catherine Brown
Catherine Brown has recommitted to the Hawks until the end of the 2023 season.
Brown played all 10 games for Hawthorn in Season 7 thanks to her reliability as a key back.
The 29-year-old averaged 10.1 disposals and was ranked first in the league for her 57 rebound 50s.
