Box Hill's VFLW team opened its 2023 account with a draw against reigning premiers Essendon on Sunday at The Hangar.
Four AFLW-listed players featured in the game, with Sophie Locke, Emily Everist, Catherine Brown and Aine McDonagh all lining up for the Hawks.
Read Box Hill Coach Cherie O'Neill's review of each AFLW-listed player below.
Sophie Locke (16 disposals, 4 tackles)
"Sophie was good. She rotated through the midfield and the forward line. She brings a lot of aggression and tackle pressure. She's always very dynamic on the field so it was good to see her out there."
Emily Everist (11 disposals, 8 kicks)
"Emily went well. She played a role on the wing which is a bit different for her. We're trying to get her up the ground a bit more and get her more involved. She applied good defensive pressure and great tackle pressure as well."
Catherine Brown (10 disposals, 2 tackles)
"Catherine was good off the backline. She really brought some leadership and she sets the ground up well. I think she'll just keep building."
Aine McDonagh (8 disposals, 3 tackles)
"Aine was going really well before she unfortunately got injured. She was putting herself in some good positions to take good marks and she had a couple of good looks at goal. Like every other player, we're trying to develop her football."
