Will Day has earned back-to-back MVP plaudits following his superb performance in Hawthorn's 19-point win against North Melbourne on Saturday at UTAS Stadium.

Following an impressive outing last week against Sydney, Day was again cool under pressure as he amassed an equal career-high and game-high 29 disposals (at 86.2% efficiency), a career-high 11 marks, game-high nine score involvements and a team-high five clearances.

Speaking post-game Mitchell reserved special praise for the 21-year-old, who showed toughness after being on the wrong end of a heavy Griffin Logue who was later offered a one-match ban for his hit.

"Because of his physique we always look at his composure, but he's actually really tough," Mitchell said.

"He got hit today quite a few times hard and just bounces up and it doesn't affect him. He continues to play the right way.

"We were able to use him in several roles which really helped the game. He's an important player for us."

Speaking earlier last week, Day said he has enjoying his new-found role in the midfield.

"It's been exciting, I've loved my time in the middle," he said.

"Having had the pre-season in the midfield has been huge for me - I feel on top of the ground and have a lot more confidence in my body.

"I feel a lot more comfortable in there and with the mix of boys in the middle, we feel really confident moving forward that we've got the right group."
