Last time we met

Fremantle (95) defeated Hawthorn (82) - Round 13, 2022

Fremantle overcame a brave Hawthorn to post a 13-point win at Optus Stadium.

The Hawks fought hard until the final siren, with the match-sealing goal only coming from the Dockers within the last five minutes.

Fremantle booted the opening two goals of the match before Hawthorn worked its way into the contest and made the most of its chances in attack.

The Hawks took a 10-point lead into half time, but a six goal quarter for the Dockers in the third term helped to propel them to a victory.

Chad Wingard, Dylan Moore and Luke Breust all finished with two goals apiece, while James Sicily (nine marks) was a rock in defence.

Western Bulldogs (94) defeated Hawthorn (65)

Last Saturday saw the Hawks go down to the Dogs by 29 points at Marvel Stadium.

Hawthorn started the match in scintillating fashion to lead by three points at the main break, but were then faced with a costly second half.

Sam Mitchell's side won the contested possession count by 18 and were on top in the clearances but couldn’t maintain their run, kicking just two goals after half time.

Will Day (30 touches, six clearances, one goal), James Worpel (25 touches, eight clearances, one goal) and Jai Newcombe (24 touches, 10 clearances, two goals) took up the fight with the Dogs' engine room and veteran forward Luke Breust (three goals) was a handful in attack before half-time.

The game also saw Mitch Lewis made a welcome return for his side after missing the season’s start due to a knee injury.
