Sam Frost has been confirmed as a starter for this Sunday's clash against the Gold Coast Suns, after Hawthorn finalised its Round 15 team on Friday.
The experienced defender comes into the brown and gold 22 after Captain James Sicily was ruled out through suspension.
Dylan Moore will lead the Hawks in Sicily's absence, with the 23-year-old appointed stand-in captain for the clash.
Frost has taken the last fortnight to return to full fitness after missing Hawthorn's final game before the bye in Round 13.
The 29-year-old will be a welcome return to the Hawthorn defence, with Frost averaging 14.3 disposals and 4.6 marks per game this season, including 2.1 intercept marks.
Meanwhile, second-year Hawk Sam Butler has been managed, named among four emergencies for the Hawks.
Hawthorn General Manager of Football Rob McCartney said Frost's inclusion was an important one.
"Given the absence of James through suspension, an experienced addition in Frosty is timely for our defence," McCartney said.
"Frosty's physicality and intercept ability has been a real weapon for us across different stages this year, and we look forward to him bringing more of that against a talented Gold Coast side.
"Losing our skipper is never ideal, but we are delighted that Dylan Moore will get the chance to lead the boys out as stand-in captain on Sunday.
"Moorey's journey has been built on resilience and hard-work, and this opportunity is well-deserved."
