Bio: After being overlooked in a series of drafts, Tamara Smith finally got her chance with the Hawks ahead of their inaugural season. The former Geelong VFLW midfielder played all 10 games for Hawthorn in the team’s maiden AFLW season and impressed in particular with her tackling, ranking fifth in the league with 8.3 per game. The 23-year-old also averaged 10 disposals and won Hawthorn’s Most Courageous Player award at the end of the year.
Three things you might not know about Smithy:
1. She has eight siblings - six brothers and one sister.
2. She is a bookworm! Last year alone, she read 120 books.
3. She comes from a small town called Strathbogie in north-east Victoria.
