Young gun Will Day took home his maiden Peter Crimmins Medal following a thrilling count on Saturday that was decided by just two votes in the final round.

Saturday turned out to be a thrilling count, with Will Day (125) polling just two more votes to finish ahead of Jai Newcombe (123) and Conor Nash (114).

Aside from the podium finish, there we several other awards up from grabs on the night, with Josh Weddle (Most Promising), Conor Nash (Most Improved), Dylan Moore (Most Couragous), Luke Breust (Best Clubman) and Will Day (Lethal Award) all receiving accolades.

"Part of what my job has been in my two years so far is not just to show our players and staff the direction we are going, but it's also to bring all of you along, the members and fans, along for the journey," Coach Sam Mitchell said.

"For us the plan has been really clear, we've spent a lot of time thinking about it and developing it, and now we are in the execution phase."
