Hawthorn defender Jenna Richardson has claimed her first MVP nod to close out the 2023, following a strong performance against Geelong.

Richardson saved her best for last, collecting 14 disposals, including eight intercept possessions and four rebound 50s. 

The 22-year-old was also prominent through the air, taking seven marks, including two contested grabs.

Richardson has blossomed into one of the most consistent defenders for the brown and gold, playing every game in 2023.

On top of shutting down the opposition's key forwards, Richardson averaged 11.7 disposals and 3.7 marks this year, building upon her debut season of 2022.
