Last time we met
Gold Coast (101) defeated Hawthorn (34) in Round 15, 2023
It was a disappointing performance from the Hawks last time these two teams met, going down by 67 points at Carrara.
Hawthorn began the game well, leading by seven points at quarter-time before narrowly trailing by 10 points at the main break.
From there, the Hawks found it difficult to score, only kicking a further two goals for the game while the Suns piled on 10 more majors of their own.
Blake Hardwick could hold his head high after the game though, recording a career-high 38 disposals to go with eight marks and 561 metres gained.
Mitch Lewis and Luke Breust each kicked two goals for the day.
Our last game
Collingwood (77) defeated Hawthorn (72)
The Hawks put in one of their best performances of the year against Collingwood, but Sam Mitchell's men fell just short of the reigning premiers at Adelaide Oval.
After trailing by 38 points at half-time, Mitchell turned to one of his senior players in Blake Hardwick to swing momentum back in Hawthorn's direction, sending the defender inside 50 to provide a spark.
Hardwick did just that, kicking a career-high four goals to go with 15 disposals and seven marks.
The 27-year-old played a big part in getting the Hawks within a kick of the Pies, contributing to the team's eight-goal to two second half.
Karl Amon also performed positively with his 28 disposals, seven marks and 903 metres gained, while Lloyd Meek was solid in the ruck with 30 hit-outs, 18 disposals and seven clearances.
What's on?
For Hawks fans attending the game in-person, be sure to arrive at the ground early to support Box Hill's VFL side as they take on Gold Coast.
The game begins at 2.30pm AEST with the Hawks aiming to keep their undefeated start to the season alive.
For those unable to attend, the game will be streamed on the VFL website and App.
In the AFL match, it will be a special occasion for Karl Amon who suits up for his 150th game.
After being drafted by Port Adelaide with Pick 68 in 2013, Amon spent nearly a decade at the Power before returning to his home state of Victoria in 2022.
In his 25 appearances for the Hawks so far, the 28-year-old has averaged just under 23 disposals and kicked 10 goals.
Mabior Chol will also be one to watch as he comes face-to-face with his old side for the first time since moving over to the Hawks last year.
Lastly, the Hawks will be wearing the latest iteration of their Legends Guernsey, which honours Michael Tuck, for the first time this season.
The 2024 Legends Guernsey celebrates the club's original 1925-1932 VFL jumper which sports a gold V on brown, along with the fabled HFC monogram on the front and Tuck's Legends emblem.
