Hawthorn Co-Vice Captain Dylan Moore has capped off his meteoric rise as one of the game’s most dangerous midfield-forward dynamos by earning a maiden All Australian blazer.

Moore’s potency was profound whilst playing every game for the Hawks in 2024, ranking second in the AFL for goal assists (31) and equal-fourth for score involvements (169), along with booting 35 goals of his own.

The 25-year-old also racked up 19.7 disposals, 5.2 marks and 3.9 tackles per game this season, including 33 tackles inside 50 (equal 6th in the league).

Moore’s first-career All Australian selection is the culmination of an incredible evolution to elite status, after the former Caulfield Grammarian’s career was on life support less than four years ago.

Selected by the Hawks with Pick 67 in the 2017 national draft, Moore managed just 10 games in his first three seasons at the club, before he was delisted at the end of 2020 and re-selected as a rookie in a sliding doors moment to keep his AFL dream alive.

Since then, he’s played 88 of a possible 90 games for the brown and gold and become one of the club’s most valuable leaders, earning the respect of his peers as co-vice captain.

Hawthorn Executive General Manager of Football Rob McCartney said Moore’s selection was well deserved.

“To be recognised among the league’s most elite players and earn an All Australian blazer is something very special and a wonderful accomplishment by Dylan,” McCartney said.

“To see the way Dylan has transformed and elevated himself in recent years is a testament to the application and professionalism that he exemplifies today.

“Along with his exceptional work rate and gifted talents, the energy that Dylan provides on game day and at training throughout the week is enormous, he’s the sort of teammate that lifts others around him.

“We have valued Dylan immensely from within our four walls for some time now, and it’s brilliant that he’s now receiving the wider recognition he deserves through this maiden All Australian blazer.

“While this is a moment for Dylan and his family to cherish, I’m sure Dylan would also like to add a strong team performance in finals to his list of accomplishments in 2024.”
