Hawthorn Football Club wishes to advise that its Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 12 December 2024.
One of the key functions of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) is to announce the results of director elections (if any). At the 2024 AGM, the three-year terms of current directors Ian Silk (Chair - Governance, Risk, Integrity & Compliance Committee) and Tim Shearer (Chair - Hawthorn Football Club Foundation) expire, and they have advised they will seek re-election from the members for a further three-year term.
Expressions of interest in, and nominations for director positions can be made to the club via ceo@hawthornfc.com.au from Monday 16 September closing Friday 18 October 2024. Notice of the AGM and any election process (if required) will be provided on or before 21 November 2024.
A Nominations Committee comprising both existing Board members and a majority of independent members will be convened. The Committee is responsible for identifying and assessing all candidates who wish to apply to be the two Board endorsed candidates. As has been practice, the Committee will make a recommendation to the Board on who it believes should be the Board endorsed candidates based on its assessment of the candidates, and the skills and expertise required by the Club. The Board will consider the recommendations received from the Nominations Committee and inform members of its two endorsed candidates ahead of the voting period.
It should be noted that if the number of eligible candidates nominated for director positions does not exceed the number of positions (2), no election will be required. The nominees will be deemed to have been duly elected.
The 2024 Nominations Committee comprises the following members:
- Katie Hudson (Chair) – Hawthorn Vice President
- Owen Wilson – Hawthorn Director
- Geoff Harris – former Hawthorn Vice President
- Lucinda Nolan – former Hawthorn Director
- Merryl Dooley – Chief People and Culture Officer, Bapcor Ltd
- Chris Langford – former Hawthorn Captain, former AFL Commissioner
Nominations open 16 September 2024 and are due by Friday 18 October 2024 and should be supported by at least two members of three plus years. Nominations, as well as any enquiries about the process, can be submitted to the Chief Executive Officer at ceo@hawthornfc.com.au.
