Aileen Gilroy, Aine McDonagh, Tilly Lucas-Rodd, Jenna Richardson, Eliza West and Lucy Wales have all been rewarded for their impressive 2024 campaigns with selection in the 2024 All Australian Squad.
The six Hawks included are the highest number of players from the same team represented in the squad.
Lucas-Rodd was previously named in the 2022 All-Australian squad whilst playing with St Kilda, while for the other five Hawks this marks their first All-Australian squad nomination.
In her debut season in the brown and gold Eliza West has proved impressive through the Hawks midfield. The vice-captain was ranked first in handballs across the league with 153, third in contested possessions and fourth in tackles and clearances, whilst averaging 22 disposals and six clearances per game.
Tilly Lucas-Rodd has played all possible games for 2024, they shone in their new role off half-back averaging 21 disposals, six intercept possessions, five rebound 50s and five tackles per game.
A shift into the forward line has seen Aileen Gilroy take her game to the next level. The Irish product has slotted 14 goals in 2024 from all 11 regular season games played in 2024, finishing fifth overall on the final leaderboard.
Fellow Irishwoman Aine McDonagh has also had an impressive 2024 campaign, having kicked a career-best 15 goals in 2024, her third year at the top level. McDonagh was also ranked second in the competition for goal assists.
Jenna Richardson has had a breakout year, finishing the regular season with 65 marks, the most of any player across the league. The defender also ranked fifth in intercept possessions (79), a pivotal piece of the Hawks defensive line.
Lucy Wales has been dominant in 2024, with the Hawks main ruck establishing herself as one of the best in the league. The 21-year-old ranked fifth in the competition for hit outs with 287 and has significantly improved her stats, more than doubling her hit outs total from each of her previous two seasons.
The final team of 21 including a captain and vice-captain will be names on Monday, November 25 at the W Awards.
