As Hawthorn prepares to make the move into its new home later this year, we take a look back at the progress made in the past 12 months.

It was February 2024 when the club celebrated the official Turning of the First Sod, and since then construction on the Dingley site has rapidly taken shape. 

The Kennedy Community Centre will transform our club into the future, creating a home for the entire Hawthorn family for generations to come. 

 

FEBRUARY 2024

Hawthorn President Andy Gowers, CEO Ash Klein and Senior Coach Sam Mitchell were joined by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, along with state and local representatives for the official ‘Turning of the First Sod’.

MARCH 2024

Initial piling works were undertaken to form the foundations for the Harris High Performance Centre and AFL Oval and Community Pavilion, while oval drainage and irrigation works took place.

APRIL 2024

The first concrete slab was poured at the facility, while the first vertical elements were erected.

MAY 2024

Dylan Moore and Emily Bates paid a visit to the facility, as formwork for the first-floor concrete slab was underway.

JUNE 2024

The continuation of concrete being poured on the ground and level 1 areas, while the beginning of general landscaping, including the installation of bench seats around the oval.

JULY 2024

Concrete of the HHPC nearing completion, while the first slab was poured on the AFL Oval and Community Pavilion.

AUGUST 2024

Aquatic area in the HHPC took shape, while the formwork on the AFLW Oval and Community Pavilion was installed in preparation for the Level 1 concrete pour.

SEPTEMBER 2024

The beginning of structural steel was erected on the HHPC, while the primary concrete structure of the AFLW Oval and Community Pavilion was completed.

OCTOBER 2024

The continuation of structural steel being erected at the HHPC, while the shear walls were installed at the AFLW Oval and Community Pavilion to support the grandstand seating.

NOVEMBER 2024

The first turf was laid down on the main training oval, while the light towers were installed around the AFLW Oval and Community Pavilion.

DECEMBER 2024

The completion of turf being laid on both ovals, while structural steel is being completed on the AFLW Oval and Community Pavilion.

JANUARY 2025

Key internal works have begun on the Harris High Performance Centre, including level 1 wall framing, ceiling works, and facade cladding. Meanwhile, after turf was laid down on our two training ovals at the end of last year, line markings have been completed and goal posts have been errected.
