The Hawthorn Football Club is delighted to announce that Tracey Gaudry has been appointed as the club’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Tracey Gaudry is a highly-accomplished leader whose executive and non-executive career spans national and international roles in sport.

She is a former professional athlete, dual Olympian and currently the General Manager – Commercial and Growth at Athletics Australia, Vice President of the world governing body for the sport of cycling, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and a contributor to the International Olympic Committee on gender inclusion.

Prior to her role at Athletics Australia, Gaudry was the Chief Executive Officer at the Amy Gillett Foundation for five years.

Most recently, Gaudry was instrumental in the creation of the world-first Nitro Athletics series, which transformed athletics into a team format and brought some of the world’s most exciting track and field athletes, including Usain Bolt, to Melbourne earlier this year.

Gaudry was a professional cyclist for seven years, ranked 3rd in the World at her peak, before moving into executive roles.

Married with three children, Gaudry holds a Masters degree in Management and Bachelor degrees in Science and Commerce.

Hawthorn President, Richard Garvey, said Hawthorn Football Club are thrilled with Gaudry’s appointment.

“She is a highly-respected figure in the national and international sporting industry and her passion, strong vision and intimate understanding of elite sports make her the perfect CEO for our football club.

“From the outset we have been clear about ensuring our new CEO was someone who could drive Hawthorn into the future.

“We are excited to have a CEO who comes from outside of the football world, someone with a different perspective who can drive innovation and change.

“Tracey is a passionate football fan and will bring great energy and leadership to the club.”

Incoming CEO, Tracey Gaudry, recognises the significance of her appointment.

“It is a privilege to have built a career in sport over two decades, and to have the opportunity to bring all of my knowledge and experience in national, international, sport-specific and whole-of-sport roles to Hawthorn Football Club,” Gaudry said.

“Growing up in regional Victoria I was the typical kid, kicking the footy about the oval on the weekend. Australia is a sporting nation with Australian Rules Football ingrained in our DNA and it’s the perfect time to join Hawthorn at such a progressive time for our national game.

“As and strong and successful club in the AFL, Hawthorn is not resting on its laurels as it strives to advance across all aspects of the club including the planned new home at Dingley, women’s football, youth academies and its contribution to the community.”

Garvey also thanked Interim CEO, Tim Silvers, for his outstanding service to the club. 

“Tim has done a fantastic job of ensuring it has been business as usual around the club,” he said.

“He has played his role as Interim CEO exceptionally well and our club is incredibly fortunate to have had a great Hawthorn person step up so seamlessly during this transition period.             

“Our club prides itself on the quality of its people and we are thrilled to announce that Tim has been promoted to the role of the club’s Chief Operating Officer and will begin in this role effective immediately.”

Gaudry will serve out her notice period at Athletics Australia before commencing her role at Hawthorn on May 29.

Tracey Gaudry is a senior executive and non-executive director whose career spans local, state, national and international commercial, academic, government and not-for-profit enterprises. A former world-class athlete and dual Olympian, the determination and commitment required to achieve success in sport has carried over to Tracey’s professional career.

Tracey is the General Manager Commercial & Growth, Athletics Australia concurrent with non-executive directorships of the world governing body for cycling – the Union Cycliste Internationale and the Oceania Cycling Confederation.

Tracey holds a Masters degree in Management to underpin her applied knowledge, skills and experience, and complementing her Bachelor degrees in Science and Commerce.

A former professional road cyclist, Gaudry was ranked 3rd in the World at the height of her career, competing at the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, the 1998 Kuala Lumpur Commonwealth Games. Tracey is a UCI Women’s World Cup winner, multiple GC and stage race winner on the international road cycling circuit, triple Tour de France Feminin competitor and triple National Champion.
