Here are a sneak peak of some of the players that we think you should keep an especially close eye on.

Tim Mohr
Standing at 196cm tall and weighing in at 100kg, Hawthorn added Mohr to their list this off-season with a specific role in mind. A strongly-built defender capable of taking on the biggest forwards in the competition, the former Giant will be desperate to make his first impression in the brown and gold a good one on Sunday. With the bulk of his last three seasons interrupted by injury, the 30-year-old believes he still has a lot to offer the club - Sunday is his chance to show his wares.
Jack Scrimshaw
Another recruit brought across from an opposition club this off-season, Jack Scrimshaw will be hoping he too can deliver a strong first-up performance for his new side. The former Gold Coast Sun has turned heads on the track this summer with his eerily similar traits to four-time premiership Hawk Grant Birchall. A left-footed ball-user off the half-back flank, the 20-year-old will look to kick-start a lot of the Hawks offence from the defensive line on Sunday.
Jon Ceglar
Jon Ceglar impressively worked his way back into the senior side in 2018 following an extended stint out of the game with an ACL injury. Ceglar played 11 senior games last year and seemed to improve upon each outing. This is exemplified by the ruckman’s five-game stint between Rounds 17 and 21, where he averaged 30 hit-outs, 11.2 disposals, 5.6 one-percenters and two contested marks.
Lachie Neale
The Lions were ecstatic in last year’s trade period when they were able to salvage the loss of the outgoing Dayne Beams with the recruiting of Lachie Neale. The former Docker is a contested ball beast, having averaged 14.8 contested touches and 30.5 possessions per game over the last three seasons. Still just 25 years of age, Neale was added to this year’s leadership group at the Lions, highlighting his impact off-field already through his first few months at the club while also forecasting the influence he will have on-field as well.
Charlie Cameron
Charlie Cameron was enjoying a career-best season in 2018 before his campaign was cruelly cut short in Round 11 after rupturing the Lisfranc ligament in his foot. Entering his second year at the Gabba, the former Crow will be keen to continue his momentum into this season. The livewire forward was one of the Lions’ stand-out players in their hit-out against Gold Coast last week, kicking two goals. Cameron is arguably the Lions game-breaker, incredibly potent around goal he is able to impact the game at will. The Hawks will be looking to keep a tight leash on the 24-year-old this weekend.
