An injury-depleted Hawthorn went down to Richmond by 36 points on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.

Injuries to Ben McEvoy (ankle), Mitchell Lewis (concussion) and Luke Breust (corked leg) left the Hawks with a single interchange rotation at one stage in the match.

An in-form Dustin Martin was almost unstoppable for the Tigers dominating the middle with 37-disposals and adding to the scoreboard with two handy goals.

For the Hawks, Ricky Henderson was once again in his side’s best, along with James Sicily who did a respectable job on Tigers forward Tom Lynch and Jaeger O’Meara who had 30 disposals.

Hawthorn met with last year’s minor premiers Collingwood at Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon in Round 2 of the VFLW.

Collingwood’s efficiency inside 50 was the difference in the first quarter when they scored three goals from their three forward 50 entries.

A goalless second quarter cost the Hawks as the Magpies piled on another three to extend their lead at half time.

Emily Gilder was a shining light for the Hawks booting three goals and Chantella Perera had another excellent game off the half back line.

The Hawks scored more in the second half than their opponents, but it wasn’t enough and the Pies won the game by 28 points
