The Rundown
Hawthorn and Brisbane appeared an even match in the opening half of this Round 17 clash last year. The Hawks led by four points at the first change, before extending that to an 11-point buffer at the main break. The young Lions were showing a willingness to stick with a Hawthorn side that typically feels right at home in Launceston. The Lions then built on their first half grit with an impressive second half, kicking 10 goals to the Hawks’ three. Brisbane ultimately ran out 33-point victors as it recorded a second win over Hawthorn in the 2018 season.
The Star
Jaeger O’Meara was a shining light for the Hawks with 27 possessions, eight tackles and four goals. His midfield mate Tom Mitchell also proved a handful for the Lions with 43 disposals, seven marks, seven tackles and a goal.

The Moment
The last quarter of this match proved disastrous for the Hawks as they managed just one point to the Lions’ four goals. It meant that, following O’Meara’s fourth goal at the 16-minute mark of the third term, Chris Fagan’s side booted the last six majors of the game.
