Jonathon Ceglar has put pen to paper on a new deal this week, keeping him in the brown and gold for at least another three years.

The announcement comes off the back of a strong season from the ruckman, who averaged career-best numbers in disposals (13.3) and marks (4.6) across his 15 senior appearances.

GM-Football Graham Wright says Ceglar’s contract extension is a just reward for effort.

“Ruckmen are a precious commodity in our game, so we’re really pleased to have Cegs re-commit to the club for a further three seasons,” Wright said.

“He’s a valuable player for us who adds a wealth of versatility to our line up.

“He’s also a member of our emerging leaders group and sets a great example for his teammates both on and off the field.

“Cegs finished off the season in really strong form, and we’re hopeful he can continue this momentum into 2020 and beyond.”

The now-28-year-old started his AFL journey at Collingwood, selected with Pick 25 in the 2010 National Draft. 

He was delisted after two seasons at the Holden Centre, before joining the Hawks via the 2012 Rookie Draft.

In 2016, while enjoying his best season to date, Ceglar’s campaign was prematurely ended when he ruptured his ACL against West Coast in Round 22.

Following nearly two years on the sidelines, the big man made his awaited return – ironically against West Coast – and has since been a consistent performer at AFL level.

In his seven years at the club, Ceglar has notched up 76 games and counting.
