Hawthorn fans will be treated to MCG action in the first round of the 2020 home and away season, as the Hawks take on the Lions in front of a home crowd.
The clash will mark the first time the two teams have met at the MCG since 2012, having played six of their last nine meetings at UTAS Stadium and the remaining three away games at the Gabba.
The fixture will hold particular interest for Grant Birchall fans; the four-time premiership Hawk could be set to meet his former side at the first possible opportunity since departing for Brisbane during the recent free agency period.
It will also mark the sixth time Alastair Clarkson and Chris Fagan have faced off in the coach's boxes. Fagan became senior coach of the Lions at the end of 2016, following nine years beside Clarkson at the Hawks.
The Hawks will kick off their 2020 season on Sunday March 22nd at 3.20pm.
