GRANT Birchall and Paul Puopolo are both in contention for Thursday night’s clash with the Adelaide Crows at Adelaide Oval.
Defender Birchall has missed the Hawks’ past two games with an ankle injury, while small forward Puopolo missed Round 10 with a foot injury.
GM Football Operations Chris Fagan said both players would be in the selection mix.
“They’re both putting their hands up, we just need to see how they get through out final training session and we’ll make a decision based on that,” he said.
“It will be a no risk approach, but we’re hopeful that both those guys will be available.”
Fagan said the Hawks were in a great position, with almost every player available for selection this week.
“We were pretty healthy before the bye, but the bye has just allowed a few more players to freshen up,” he said
“Pretty much other than Kaiden Brand, who’s out for the season with double shoulder surgery, we’ve got a full list to choose from this week so it’s a good position to be in.”
Fagan said Will Langford had made a successful return from injury for VFL affiliate Box Hill Hawks prior to the bye, as had Matt Spangher, who played about 60 per cent game-time in his first match back from a long injury layoff.
