HAWTHORN star Sam Mitchell has finished eighth in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award.
Mitchell polled nine votes in Round 23 against Carlton to finish with 69 votes.
Sydney's Dan Hannebery won the award with 101 votes, a vote ahead of Fremantle's Nat Fyfe.
Mitchell was one of five Hawks to poll votes against Carlton, for his 34-disposal game.
Defender Josh Gibson also impressed the coaches, polling seven votes, while key forward Jarryd Roughead kicked four goals and won five votes.
Jack Gunston was also rewarded for his four-goal haul with three votes, and Bradley Hill collected three votes for his 27-possession haul.
Retiring Blue Andrew Carrazzo was his side's standout player, picking up three votes.
