AS another massive year draws to a close, hawthornfc.com.au has decided to count down some of the Hawks' best on-field moments of 2015.

There were plenty - and we're convinced there were plenty not on this list that deserve to be - because it has been another exceptional year for the team.

Here's part three of our countdown of the top 15 moments of 2015.

6. Hawks, Hodge respond to defeat Adelaide in semi final

With their premiership credentials heavily questioned after a comprehensive 32-point qualifying final loss to the West Coast Eagles - and key forward Jack Gunston out of action due to an ankle injury - the Hawks responded in emphatic style.

They were led by none other than their captain, Luke Hodge, who had also come under heavy scrutiny for his recent performances both on-field against the Eagles, and off it.

The Hawks set the tone early, nailing eight goals to two in the opening quarter against the Crows, while Hodge finished as the Hawks’ most critical player with four goals and 24 disposals as his side booked a preliminary final place, winning by 74 points.

5. Duryea all but seals grand final berth

Twenty points up, with less than eight minutes remaining in the game itself, the Hawks were still vulnerable to a Dockers fight back.

While the momentum was with the Hawks, it was Taylor Duryea who spoiled the ball at half forward, gathered and sidestepped an opponent before kicking truly from the boundary, as he was being tackled, that put the final nail in the Dockers’ coffin.

4. Lake smother steals the show

The Hawks led by 10 goals early in the final quarter of this year's grand final. But there was still enough time for another episode of the Brian Lake Show.

And what a highlight he produced. With West Coast Eagle Josh Hill running in for what looked like the simplest of goals, Lake threw himself at the ball, getting his fingertips to the ball just before the goal line.

Not only did it draw a massive roar from the Hawks supporters, but there were a few smiles in the coaches box too.
