Hawks livewire Cyril Rioli and New Zealand import Shem Tatupu went back to school Monday as part of the club’s 2015 Hawks in Schools program.
Just under 100 Grade 3 and 4 students from Old Orchard Primary School participated in an educational session with the AFL stars.
Rioli and Tatupu shared the expertise they have learned over their careers at elite sporting club Hawthorn, covering nutrition, hydration and physical activity during the lesson.
Hawks in Schools is now well underway for season 2015 and has doubled in participation since last season, reaching 32 primary schools and approximately 2500 students from schools across Knox City Council, City of Whitehorse, Yarra Ranges and Maroondah City Council.
The program uses AFL football to encourage, educate and empower students to live a healthy and active lifestyle.
Following the classroom discussion, the students joined the Hawks players on the school oval for a kick-to-kick, goalkicking practice and a skills session.
No school visit would be complete without a big group photo and autographs with the Hawks stars.
