Hawthorn offered past players a unique opportunity to immerse themselves back into the club dynamic last week.

The club invited former players who are fathers of sons or daughters aged 16 and under down to the Ricoh Centre on Friday.

Attending families included the Crawfords, the Hudsons and the Vandenbergs with over 40 children involved.

The kids were taken through a range of activities throughout the day including a presentation from Alastair Clarkson, a football clinic on Waverley Park and a barbecue lunch.

Head of Hawthorn Next Generation Academy Nathan Foley said the day was a great success.

“It was a great opportunity to engage some former players back into the Hawthorn fold along with their families,” Foley said.

“It was wonderful to have so many players excited to be involved and I think the kids were really excited about the chance to come down and see where their fathers used to work too.

“With Hawthorn being the Family club, it was certainly a great occasion.”
