Box Hill fell short to a come-from-behind Collingwood by 14 points at a blustery Victoria Park on Saturday.
Jackson Ross’ fourth goal put the Hawks 18-points ahead mid-way through the third term.
But Collingwood surged to victory with eight of the last ten goals to record its first win since Round 1.
Assistant Coach Torin Baker gives us his review of each AFL-listed player.
Kaiden Brand (30 disposals, 18 marks, 5 rebound 50s)
“KB, without doubt, was our best player on the day. His ability to mark the ball from the opposition, as well as his spoiling and setting us up with his ball use was outstanding. On the back of last week, he is in awesome form.” TB
Jarryd Roughead (22 disposals, 4 marks, 5 tackles, 1 goal)
“Roughy played a variety of roles this week. He played as a ruck, played a small burst in the midfield and won plenty of the footy himself. His inside 50 kicking was excellent. Certainly, his leadership and competitiveness was a real standout on the day.” TB
Changkuoth Jiath (16 disposals, 7 marks, 2 tackles)
“CJ was certainly good in the air for most of the day and his ball use was sound. He’s another player who has shown really significant improvement from his first year to his second, so we are very happy with the way his year is tracking.” TB
Damon Greaves (10 disposals, 3 marks, 3 tackles)
“Damon continues to be really disciplined in the role that he plays. He’s still looking to win more of the footy, but he sticks to his task and continues to seek ways to improve. The signs are all pointing to him being a player who will give everything possible to get better.” TB
Ned Reeves (7 disposals, 32 hitouts, 2 tackles)
“Last week was another opportunity for Ned to get more game time in the ruck with Pittonet out. It was a real benefit to see him get the game time he did. He will benefit in the long run from getting these opportunities and has a really good attitude in wanting to improve.” TB
Daniel Howe (21 disposals, 8 marks, 3 tackles)
“Howey continues to get a lot of the footy as a midfielder. There probably wasn’t the polish in his game on the weekend that there usually is. However, he was certainly another solid contributor for us.” TB
Harry Jones (19 disposals, 3 marks, 4 tackles)
“Harry’s contested ball game was once again very strong. We are still looking to get balance in his game, but he is always very hard at the footy and really strong in the scrap.” TB
Will Golds (14 disposals, 5 marks, 1 goal)
“Will was able to find the footy. We will continue to work on his running patterns and defensive aspects as a first year player, but his opposition ball work is starting to show really good signs.” TB
Jackson Ross (12 disposals, 4 goals, 3 marks)
“Jackson was again impressive with another four goals. His finishing was really classy, in what were difficult conditions. He’s built together some really good form this season, to be leading the VFL goal kicking. It says a lot about the way his year is tracking.” TB
Ollie Hanrahan (7 disposals, 1 mark, 3 inside 50s)
“By Ollie’s own admission, it was a game he’d rather put to the side. His day didn’t go to plan, but he is really keen to focus on his good form earlier this season and rectify it this week.” TB
Teia Miles (22 disposals, 8 marks, 1 goal)
“Teia set us up from down back with his ball use. He also went forward later in the game and looked dangerous up there as well. It was great to have him back in the team, and he certainly helped our ball movement.” TB
Conor Nash (11 disposals, 3 marks, 4 inside 50s)
“Nashy set us alight in the third quarter, everything he touched turned into goals for us. His work up the ground is proving damaging and we are continuing to work with him on other parts of his game.” TB
Mat Walker (10 disposals, 4 marks, 1 goal)
“Mat had two shots on goal but didn’t quite convert like he’d have wanted to. He played with really good intent; his competing in the air and at ground level was again really solid. He’s another first-year player showing really good signs.” TB
