Hawthorn VFLW premiership player Steph Carroll says there was ‘no fuss made’ for her 50th game in the VFLW competition, a milestone which she celebrated against Collingwood on Saturday afternoon.
“It’s a proud moment I suppose, really just another game," Carroll said post-match.
"But it is a nice moment when you probably never expected that that would ever be a possibility and to be able to do it in the Hawthorn colours, that was pretty special.”
A lifelong Hawks supporter, Carroll is the second person to reach 50 games in the VFLW competition.
Hawthorn unfortunately couldn’t come away with a win for the milestone game, losing to Collingwood at Victoria Park by 28 points.
Despite the loss being the team’s second of the season, Carroll says it’s not ‘panic stations’ yet.
“It just wasn’t a four quarter effort and that’s probably been consistent across the two weeks.
“We won the second half, we just had a bit of a lapse in the second quarter.
"We’ll go back to training and work on what we need to work on and hopefully start getting the results next week.”
With the team preparing to face Darebin Falcons this week, the focus at training is to work on playing the way the team wants to play.
“I guess in both the games so far it’s probably been more our own errors.
"So, we’ll keep fixing up on those things then come out and execute a more Hawthorn game style next week.”
The Hawks’ game against the Darebin Falcons will be at the Bill Lawry Oval, May 25, at 12:00pm.
