Lost to Brisbane by 27 points
Ladder position: 11th
Inaccuracy in front of goal plagued the Hawks in their Round 19 match against the Brisbane Lions at the University of Tasmania Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Hawks had 15 more inside 50s than the Lions, however they were unable able to capitalise on their opportunities, kicking poorly with seven goals and 18 behinds.
Despite the loss there were positives to take away from the match.
Our blue-collar midfield of Ben McEvoy, Jaeger O’Meara and James Worpel shone winning 13 centre clearances to Brisbane’s six.
Individually, McEvoy won the hit-outs 45-26, Worpel had a game-high 34 disposals and O’Meara laid the most tackles (10) of anyone in the game.
Shaun Burgoyne equalled the AFL/VFL indigenous games record when he played his 372nd match.
The 36-year-old showed no signs of slowing down kicking two goals and collecting 18 disposals.
