After a bag of four goals on the weekend, young Hawks forward Jackson Ross sits atop the VFL Jim ‘Frosty’ Miller Medal tally after eight rounds.

With 17 goals to his name, Ross sits alongside Northern Blue Patrick Kerr and Port Melbourne’s Jordan Lisle, who has won the award twice.

The 19-year-old Hawk has hit the scoreboard in all six of his appearances for Box Hill so far this year, including a five-goal haul in Round 1.

His season has been underlined by an ability to make the most of his opportunities, recording only five behinds to go with his 17 majors.

Box Hill Assistant Coach Torin Baker said that Ross had put together a strong opening six games to the season.

“Jackson was again impressive on the weekend with another four goals,” Baker said.

“His finishing was really classy, in what were difficult conditions.

“He’s built together some really good form this season, to be leading the VFL goal kicking - it says a lot about the way his year is tracking.”

A member of the premiership-winning side last year, Ross was the 71st pick in the 2017 national draft.

Standing at 193cm tall, Ross is still early in his development and will be keen to add some weight to his 79kg frame.

But the former Eastern Ranges player couldn’t be gaining a greater education than playing alongside four-time premiership player and former club captain Jarryd Roughead in recent weeks.
