Hawthorn defender James Sicily has earned the nod as the side’s MVP of Round 16 after an impressive performance against Collingwood.
Sicily was an unstoppable force in the air, claiming a career-high 14 marks as he proved an impenetrable aerial presence.
The 24-year-old also had 28 possessions, 23 of which were disposed by foot, as well as a game-high seven rebound 50s.
After spending the past few weeks between the forward and backlines, Sicily made a statement of his positional preference with this effort.
Sicily’s numbers this year are comparable with some of the best defenders in the game.
He ranks third league-wide for rebound 50s (averaging 7.2 per game), sixth for marks (eight), eighth for intercept possessions (8.1), 15th for kicks (16.9) and 15th for metres gained (473.3m).
