With the addition of Ned Reeves to the Hawthorn list via a pre-season supplemental selection on Thursday, the 209cm giant has become the tallest man to have ever been listed by the Hawks.
Standing at 206cm, Max Bailey was the previous premier big man of Hawks history, but Reeves now overtakes Bailey by over an inch.
Ironically, Bailey will now figure as Reeves’ Box Hill coach as well as a key mentor for the youngster as he looks to pave his way in the AFL system.
A 2013 premiership player, Bailey is one of 22 200cm-plus players to have ever pulled on a brown and gold jumper.
Interestingly, of those 22, three are on the current list – Jonathon Ceglar (204cm), Marc Pittonet (202cm) and Ben McEvoy (200cm).
Stephen Lawrence is the games record-holder for those Hawks who’ve surpassed the two-metre threshold, playing 146 games between 1988 and 1998.
Of this exclusive group, five are premiership players (Max Bailey, David Hale, Ben McEvoy, Michael Byrne and Brent Renouf), while other notable names who fit into this category include Paul Salmon and Peter Everitt.
